Almost Perfect
On January 31, the U. of D. High swimming team made it three wins in a row with a 59-46 victory over Visitation. Tim Sullivan (2E) led the Cubs with victories in the 50 and 100 yard freestyles.
Next, on February 5, the Cubs met Austin, the Catholic League Champion of the past three years. The Cubs started out well, but finally succumbed to Austin's might, 59-42.
The tankers resumed their winning ways on February 7, at Harper Woods High. Notre Dame was the victim this time, 53-48, as the Cubs produced a balanced attack taking seven firsts.
On February 13, the Cubs took on De La Salle at Patton Pool. Tom Duffield (3G) and Tim Sullivan each won two events as the tankers swam away with the easy victory, 61-44.
The tankers brought their record to six wins against only one loss with a 53-47 win over St. Mary's of Redford. Down by eleven points, the Cubs rallied to finish first and second in the final three events to wrap up the victory.
Visitation, out to revenge its January 31 setback at the hands of U of D High, toppled the Cubs 53-52 on February 27. The tankers lost the last relay by three tenths of a second to drop the meet.
