Catherine

Hello. Thanks for stopping by my web site. I'm a sophomore at the University of Washington in Seattle. Two important things happened in my freshman year. First, we won the PAC 10 Basketball Championship and second, I earned a place on the UW Dean's List. Alpha Chi Omega Presentationi Night 2005

I am a member of the Alpha Chi Omega sorority where I hold the office of House Manager and also I am the Chair of the Alumni Relation Committee.

I worked at Starbucks in downtown Seattle this past summer. At Christmas time this year I had a lot of fun with my cousins Alex and Bill. You can watch a QuickTime video of what we did here.

Our Women's Volleyball team won the National Championship this year! Our Men's Basketball team made it into the Sweet Sixteen of the NCAA National Basketball Tournament.

Some of my friends and I from the Alpha Chi Omega house participated in Opening Day festivities in 2005 and we can be seen by clicking the link below:

I graduated with honors from Holy Names Academy high school in Seattle where I was on the crew team for four years and was an AP Scholar. You can check out some photos of my graduation and senior prom evening festivities here.

JV8+ Brentwood, Saturday, April 23, 2004, Silver Medal Winner

One of the things I enjoy is creative writing and if you would like to see a sample of my work just click here.

I served as a school ambassador at Holy Names which involved hosting social functions and welcoming prospective students. My volunteer work has also included working with the retired nuns in the religious order that runs our school at their home in Spokane, Washington, and also volunteering with the Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Foundation. I have also been involved with volunteer work at the Puget Sound Blood Center. I encourage you to give blood to your community blood bank. It truly is the gift of life!

Venturing into a new area, I got together with some of my friends when I was in high school and we won a first place award for our exhibit at the Northwest Flower and Garden Show at the Washington State Convention and Trade Center in Seattle. My friends who worked on this with me were Gretchen, Emily, Hilary, Leslie and Lee.

In the summer of 2002 I travelled to Montreal, Canada, and visited the cathedral where Celine Dion was married. It is the Cathedral Notre Dame Basilica and it is a truly beautiful edifice.

In the summer of 2000, I went to London, England, and Normandy in France. We visited the American cemetery on Omaha Beach and it was a very moving experience. It was great and I learned a lot.

Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Foundation My cousin Bill Kirkwood is quite a baseball player and his picture appeared in the Bainbridge Island Review newspaper. He is now a freshman at Washington State University.

Another recent newspaper article gives an interesting perspective on athletics and women in business. I was elected co-captain of my high school crew team in 2003. In our 2002 season I was selected for the "Ultimate Team Player" award by my coaches.

My cousin Alex is interested in cinematography. He has started a small video production company here in Seattle called Kirkwood Productions. He is now a sophomore at the film school at Chapman University in California.
